Fire protection has existed in Brick Borough to some capacity since 1902. The first fire company to serve the Borough was the Union Fire Company No. 1. Following the disbandment of the Union, the Brick Borough Hose and Ladder Company No. 1 was established and incorporated in 1919. They have been providing fire protection to Brick Borough and the surrounding area ever since. Presently, Brick Borough Hose and Ladder has three Divisions: Fire, Fire Police, and EMS. Both the Fire and Fire Police Divisions are 100% volunteer. The EMS Division is made up of paid EMTs and Paramedics. Presently the company has twenty-seven active members. The company answers an average of 700 calls for service every year.
